Coming to grips with the reality of how terrible the world is can be a difficult and painful experience. It can often lead to feelings of despair, hopelessness, and grief. However, it can also be the catalyst for a powerful spiritual awakening.

According to psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, there are seven stages of grief that people go through when they experience a significant loss. These stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, hope, and spiritual awakening.

When someone comes to grips with the reality of how terrible the world can be, they may experience all seven stages of grief. They may deny the reality of the situation, feel angry about it, try to bargain with it, and experience depression as they come to accept it.

However, it is important to note that these stages are not necessarily linear, and people may move back and forth between them as they process their grief. It is also important to recognize that everyone’s journey is unique and there is no right or wrong way to grieve.

Once someone has reached the stage of acceptance, they may begin to feel a sense of hope and even a spiritual awakening. This can involve a deeper connection to oneself, others, God and the entire universe. It can also involve a renewed sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive difference in the world; local action, national impact.

In conclusion, while coming to grips with the reality of how terrible the world is can be a painful process, it can also be a powerful catalyst for personal growth and spiritual awakening. By acknowledging and processing our grief, we can move towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
